Walkgrove is proud to sponsor this year’s Young Creative Awards, a competition which supports and celebrates the creative achievements of young people in Nottingham.
Open to 11- to 24-year-olds, the competition shines a spotlight on creativity across 11 diverse categories from film, graphic design and music to dance, animation and photography. Winners receive cash prizes and unique industry experience, as well as recognition and creative encouragement.
The Young Creative Awards are designed to help talented young people find ways into education, training and employment opportunities. Walkgrove joins a select panel of local sponsors who believe in nurturing the power of creative talent to grow a flourishing cultural and business community.
Walkgrove Managing Director Sarah Smith commented, “creativity is the life-blood of Walkgrove’s work in training development. Our award-winning team includes storytellers, creative writers and skilled visual and vocal artists. We are delighted to support the next generation of creatives and the designers, architects, writers, and problem-solvers of the future.”
The Young Creative Awards are highly competitive but inclusive, supporting entrants from a wide range of backgrounds to realise their ambitions and carve out their careers. In the past 13 years the Young Creative Awards have received more than 4,500 entries and given over 300 awards.
The Young Creative Awards “assembles a sort of scaffolding when you’re doing something wobbly at a rickety sort of age. Someone somewhere doesn’t think you’re wasting your time: keep going.” – YCA 2019 Creative Writing winner
The Young Creative Awards are open for entries until the 21st April 2021.
