… Walkgrove is proud to be associated with Young Creatives, Nottingham, the registered charity behind the Young Creative Award, an annual competition celebrating Nottingham’s young talent. Their aim is to support the next generation of writers, musicians, designers, actors, architects, entrepreneurs and thinkers by helping young people to find ways into education, training and employment; and feeding the creative minds needed to help our communities flourish.
In addition to the eleven-category annual awards competition, the charity offers masterclasses delivered by past winners and runners up. One of the previous finalists in both 2020 and 2021, Aimee East, made it to the final of the BBC’s Best Young Artist competition this year.
The Young Creative Awards 2022 has a deadline of midday on Monday 25 April 2022 and is open to young people who live, work or study in Nottingham. Find more details here
As a creative industry, we are delighted to support an initiative which offers so much to foster talent. Walkgrove supports the creative writing category because this skill lies at the heart of our business. Senior learning designer, Lucy Hodge, stepped up offering her own time to act as a judge in this category, reviewing and discussing over 75 entries across three age brackets. You can read her blog about this experience here but this year we are happy to pay for Lucy’s time to repeat the experience during working hours.
If you know a young creative in Nottingham, there is still time for them to get an entry in before the close date, so spread the word.
