Equality and diversity training for all staff

Features

  • E-learning

Nottinghamshire County Council is committed to equality of opportunity, not just for their employees but also for the community as a whole. As part of their ongoing commitment to promoting equality, the Council is committed to providing all employees with a common understanding of equality and diversity issues. The means by which this common understanding is promoted is primarily through electronic briefings, supported by dramatised audio clips, management guidance and discussion within teams.

The aim of the equality and diversity training is to ensure that all staff have a baseline understanding of equality and diversity issues. The learning outcomes are for all employees to be able to:

  •  Describe the key equality and diversity issues in Nottinghamshire
  •  List the key legislation that promotes equality
  •  Describe how good practice in equality and diversity can help the Council to deliver better services to the public

To complement the e-briefings, we were asked to develop other multimedia resources for the Council’s training department and line management to deploy. This involved the scripting and production of six five-minute audio clips on a range of diversity topics including:

  •  Age
  •  Religion and belief
  •  Disability
  •  Ethnicity and race
  •  Gender
  •  Sexual orientation
