Walkgrove created a supportive and practical guide to workplace mental health for managers in all organisations and sectors.

The training need

Mind, the national mental health charity, identified a need for awareness modules aimed at managers.

Mind noted that businesses were becoming increasingly aware of gaps in their own mental health awareness training. The charity had previously commissioned Walkgrove to create a well-received bespoke e-learning module on mental health awareness for employees and so decided to expand its digital training portfolio for mentally healthier workplaces.

The e-learning needed to complement the existing workplace awareness course and is aimed at anyone in a management position, in any sector and in any type of organisation. Mind wanted to give managers the tools and confidence to look after their own mental health while also offering well-informed mental health support and information to their employees.

Our bespoke learning solution

Walkgrove created a 90-minute mobile-friendly course on managing workplace mental health. Four bespoke e-learning modules focus on the importance of mental health in the workplace and how managers can look after their own mental health, best practice for promoting staff wellbeing, and how to support employees effectively whilst also managing performance.

Clear and attractive tutorial screens give learners the must-know facts about managing mental wellbeing in their team, offer handy practical tips and checklists, and signpost to further resources. Regular reflective exercises prompt managers to think about applying the content to their own workplace practices with regards to wellbeing and mental health.

The attractive custom e-learning design encourages empathic understanding of managing mental health. Modules offer evidence about the impact of poor mental health and first-person accounts from ‘experts by experience’ of mental health issues. The content reflects Mind’s warm and open approach to discussing mental wellbeing and uses a conversational communication style.

To bring the learning experience to life, the modules feature high-quality photography and audio as well as illustrations and animations that explain key learning points.
