Award-winning driver security training

Walkgrove created an award-winning training module to reduce the risks of HGV and van drivers being involved in security and terrorism-related incidents.
The training need
The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary accreditation scheme
that promotes best practice for commercial vehicle operators. Training is a significant part of what FORS offers for its 5000+ members.
The FORS team recognised vehicle crime and terrorism as important and growing issues. In conjunction with Transport for London, the organisation commissioned Walkgrove to create a new bespoke e-learning module that would help vehicle operators understand and address security risks and terrorist threats in the transport industry.
The training module is aimed at a diverse audience of HGV and van drivers nationwide.
Our bespoke learning solution
Walkgrove created a highly interactive 20-minute module to promote security-conscious driver practice.
Using content designed with input from the Metropolitan Police, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and the Department for Transport, the custom e-learning module focuses on improving drivers’ security awareness.
Attention-grabbing video news reports, media-style interviews and powerful illustrated case studies highlight the current risk of terrorist threats, vehicle and load theft and the use of vehicles as weapons.
The module includes short interactive and animated scenarios that challenge drivers to take appropriate actions for preventing security and terrorist incidents. Challenges portray common risks and threats in a relatable setting and equip learners with the knowledge to spot and report suspicious activity.
The media rich and high impact e-learning module has to date been completed by tens of thousands of learners. It was recognised as an outstanding educational initiative for its contribution to counter-terrorism strategies at the annual Counter Terrorist Awards.
