Walkgrove created a short, global guide to universal safeguarding practice for British Council employees.
The training need
The British Council wanted to update and develop its robust child protection systems into a more universal safeguarding strategy for people of all ages.
They commissioned Walkgrove to create an informational e-learning course that would provide all British Council professionals and employees with a foundation of knowledge in effective safeguarding practices to protect vulnerable people.
The training course needed to be suitable for everyone who works for the British Council, including UK and overseas staff, locally appointed staff, contractors and consultants.
Our bespoke learning solution
Walkgrove created a bespoke 30-minute e-learning course to raise awareness of safeguarding and clarify the British Council’s expectations of all staff.
The succinct, short topics explain the organisational policy, identify what constitutes a safeguarding risk, provide staff with guidance on good practice and demonstrate how to act if a concern is identified.
The custom e-learning course uses a warm and empowering approach to safeguarding, giving clearly written and memorable directions on how to take key safeguarding actions. The course information is supported and enhanced by bespoke iconography and sensitively chosen photography of global individuals.
Throughout the course, learners are asked to reflect on examples and case studies of possible safeguarding situations. Learning is validated via regular knowledge checks.
In order to meet the needs of external and internal audiences, Walkgrove created two course versions. The externally targeted course was deployed via Walkgrove’s light user experience platform, Svelte, allowing consultants and contractors to access the course online from anywhere in the world and receive appropriate acknowledgement and certification for completion.
