The training need
Asset Wisdom provides accredited, competency based online courses that are endorsed by the Institute of Asset Management, and were looking to extend their offering with diploma level learning, previously delivered in a face-to-face setting.
The request was for development of a suite of modules, to be developed incrementally over a period of time.
Specific requirements included:
- Each module to be standalone, but with a consistent look and feel
- Modules will need to be adapted for different sectors as the scope of asset management increases
- Alignment with CPD accreditation criteria
- Possible translation into other languages at a later stage
The 10 modules are 30 minutes in duration, include summary audio and end of module assessments.
Our bespoke learning solution
Working with the subject matter expert, the technical and detailed content is structured into clear topics with relevant imagery, bespoke graphics and interactive screens to make it interesting, understandable and learner-friendly.
The varied imagery and inclusive language supports the client brief to move away from the misconception that asset management is solely focused in utilities and heavy industry.
Learner engagement is enhanced by activities to check understanding, and through the inclusion of practical examples and scenarios to illustrate concepts.
Modules are interspersed with reflective activities which link to a further blended learning tool, the Reflective Log. This encourages learners to relate the concepts and transfer learning to their own working environment.
The design and development process was lengthy due to the involvement of and alignment with different partners in the process, ie the client, their subject matter expert and the accreditation body.
One of the original modules has since been adapted for the health sector. This included adapting imagery as well as terminology to accurately reflect working practices and structures in the healthcare sector.
